Mesa PyYAML patch target not found

Source: Troubleshooting reference

Symptom: Linux bootstrap stops during Homebrew preparation with mesa pyyaml patch target not found — formula changed.

Cause: Mesa added r.test? to its Python resource filter. The old exact replacement only recognized the earlier filter, so it rejected the new formula.

Fix: update the checkout and rerun the maintained patch:

Terminal window
bash ~/dotfiles/install/patch-homebrew-mesa.sh

Expect a successful patch report, then an already-applied report on a repeat run. The patch preserves the formula’s test/resource exclusions and existing bindgen compiler workaround, selects the formula’s Python expression, and uses the declared PyYAML version. Linux requires that version’s binary wheel; unsupported formula or bindgen shapes fail before changing the file. This prepares the formula without rebuilding Mesa. install/linux-packages.sh calls it before Bundle; DF_PATCH_BREW_MESA=0 explicitly skips it.

See the patch source and the Homebrew formula.
